AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2002 -6 ESTABLISHING
SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMITS WITHIN THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE,
PUTNAM COUNTY, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle has established school zone speed limits through
Ordinance 2002 -6 for the health and safety of its students and the traveling public on certain streets
within the City of Greencastle;

WHEREAS, there is a need to slow traffic on Jackson Street where it intersects with Hanna
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has reviewed the proposed change and has recommended
alterations to the current speed limit; and
WHEREAS, the proposed change is in conformance with the Uniform Manual on Traffic
Control Devices.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that it
hereby amends Ordinance 2002 -6 by adding and designating the following as a school zone and that
the speed limit be reduced to 20 miles per hour.

a. Jackson Street from Jackson Blvd to Larabee Street.
NOW THEREFORE be it further ordained that all other terms and conditions of Ordinance
2002 -6, An Ordinance Establishing a School Zone Speed Limits within the City of Greencastle,
Putnam County, Indiana shall remain if full force and effect.
