Chairman Nelson Mclntire at 8:00 p.m. Those present were Nelson Mclntire, Andrew Boass, Charles Walsh, Wayne Morey, and Charles,Zettek. Guest present was Joe Coyle. Nelson presented a letter of resignation from Gordon Marquis, due to his. appointment to the Finance Committee, it was voted to accept, his resignation with regrets. The entries from the Conservation Badge Contest were looked at, and it was voted unanimously the Judith Amendola was the winner of the Polaroid Camera. It was voted to have Nelson confirm this; and, if possible Mr. Darby would come to our May 11 meeting. ' It was voted: that Wayne Morey contact Mr. Carey and Mr..Russo regarding a field trip in town for. the schools. We would need to know exactly what they were interested in, such as: How- many people are going? What about transportation? The duration^ of the trip? Some suggestions were Berry Acres, Ice House Pond and dam.site, Joe Pyne's reforestation, Wood Street trees that are dying in water caused by poor drainage from Route 495» Nelson reported on the clean-up program that the schools are going to put on April 16, a Thursday. We suggested May 2 would be better in order to get trucks, but the school decided to go ahead with their plans and hope for town trucks. Nelson reported that we had received a phamphlet from Pembrook Conservation Commission. Wayne and Chuck Walsh reported on their meeting they attended in Wrentham of the Massachusetts Association of Conservation. Commissions. It was voted to send a letter to Mr. Brownell regarding the Whitehall lower dam which is deteriorating. It was still decided to wait before sending the letter to Southboro about the junk cars, next to the Sudbury River„ Wayne Morey reported that the Commission sponsored an assembly program consisting of Walter Hoyle, District Wildlife Manager, N. E« Region, and a film about the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp at Spencer» The program was a kick-off of the essay contest for the boy to attend the Camp* It was voted that Wayne and Chuck Walsh be a screening committee for the essay contest. The Commission reorganized and re-elected Nelson Mclntire Chairman, Wayne Morey Vice-chairman and Secretary, and then re-appointed Brenda Morey as Clerk, It was voted to send a letter to Browne11 regarding the gravel removal operation at Dug Pondo ,
