HomeMy Public PortalAbout2013-30 Resolution Recognizing Sergeant Jason Nelson for Exemplary ServiceMember Martin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2013-30 RECOGNIZING SERGEANT JASON NELSON FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE MEDINA POLICE DEPARTMENT AS HE FILLED THE POSITION OF ACTING POLICE CHIEF FOR 10 WEEKS WHILE THE CHIEF ATTENDED THE FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson performed the day to day responsibilities for the police chief in his absence from January 10, 2013 to March 25, 2013 and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson took over the main planning responsibilities for the new police department facilities, reviewing plans and making recommendations to the architect to bring the costs down to make budget; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson assisted in coordinating the fire department issues in relationship to the potential merger between Loretto and Hamel Fire departments; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson coordinated the goal setting session for the police department, producing it in a timely fashion; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson managed the patrol, investigation and administration divisions of the police department efficiently and effectively; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson researched and purchased two new patrol vehicles for the police department; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Nelson coordinated the completion of the 2012 annual report of the Medina Police Depai tiuent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Medina acknowledges and thanks Sergeant Jason Nelson for his commitment to the City of Medina for the 10 weeks in which he performed the job responsibilities of the chief of police.
