STATEMENT OF AGREEMENT FOR
THE USE OF FACILITIES AS MASS CARE SHELTERS
This Agreement is made and entered into between City of Temple City, State of California and the San
Gabriel Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
RECITALS
Pursuant to the terms of federal statutes, the American Red Cross provides emergency services in behalf
of individuals and families who are victims of disaster. Temple City is authorized to permit the
American Red Cross to use Temple City buildings, grounds and equipment for mass care shelters
required in the conduct of American Red Cross Disaster Services activities, and wishes to cooperate with
the American Red Cross for such purposes.
The parties mutually desire to reach an understanding that will result in making the facilities of Temple
City available to the American Red Cross. Now, therefore, it is mutually agreed between the parties as
follows:
1. Temple City agrees that, after meeting its responsibilities to residents and city staff, it will maintain
the physical facilities that are appropriate for use as mass shelters, and will permit to the extent
possible, and upon request by the American Red Cross, the use of its physical facilities by the
American Red Cross as mass shelters for victims of disasters.
2. The American Red Cross agrees that it shall exercise reasonable care in the conduct of its activities in
such facilities and further agrees to replace or reimburse Temple City for any foods or supplies that
may be used by the American Red Cross in the conduct of its relief activities in said mass shelters.
3. Notwithstanding any other agreements, the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross
agrees to defend, hold harmless, and 'indemnify Temple City against any legal liability in respect to
bodily injury, death and property damage, arising from the negligence of said chapter or any of its
workers during the use of the property belonging to said City of Temple City.
4. This agreement shall continue for the calendar year 1999 and shall continue thereafter on an
evergreen one-year extension unless 30 days before the end of any one-year term, either party
shall notify the other in writing of discontinuance.

STATEMENT OF AGREEMENT CONCERNING THE USE OF LIVE OAK PARK
AS A MASS SHELTER BY THE PASADENA CHAPTER
AMERICAN NATIONAL RED CROSS
This agreement is made and entered into between the CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY of Los Angeles County, California, hereinafter referred
to as the "CITY" and the PASADENA Chapter of the American Red Cross,
hereinafter referred to as "RED CROSS".

Pursuant to the terms of Federal Statutes, the Red Cross conducts
relief and rehabilitation activities on behalf of individual and family
victims of natural disasters.
The City of Temple City upon the request of the Director of Emer-
gency Services will permit Red Cross to use the buildings, grounds,
and equipment at Live Oak Park for a mass care shelter required in
the conduct of Red Cross disaster relief activities and wishes to
cooperate with the Red Cross for such purpose.
The parties hereto mutually desire to reach an understanding
that will result in making the aforesaid facilities of the City of
Temple City available to the Red Cross for the aforesaid use.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed between the parties as
follows:
1. City of Temple City agrees that, after meeting its responsi-
bilities to residents, it will permit the non-exclusive use of its
Live Oak Park physical facilities by Red Cross as a mass shelter for
the victims of natural disasters.
2. Red Cross agrees that it shall exercise reasonable care in
the conduct of its activities in such facilities and further agrees
to replace or reimburse City of Temple City for any food or supplies

in said mass shelter.
3. Red Cross agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the
City of Temple City against any claim, demand, or liability for death
or injury to persons or damage to property which may be asserted
against City of Temple City arising out of Red Cross' use of said
facilities.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the governing board of the City of Temple
City has caused this agreement to be executed by the head of its
governing board and the Red Cross has caused this agreement to be
executed by the Chairman of its Pasadena Chapter, said agreement to
become effective and operation upon the affixing of the last signature
hereto.
