SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF
JULY 18, 2018
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of July 18, 2018.
BACKGROUND:
On July 18 , 2018, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled
meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the July 18, 2018 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1 . ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Georgine, Rosso, Vance , Vice-Chairman Haddad ,
Chairman Baroldi
Absent: Commissioner-None
Excused: Commissioner-None
2. REORGANIZATION OF COMMISSION
The Parks and Recreation Commission reorganized electing Commissioner
Haddad as Chairman and Commissioner Vance as Vice-Chairman.

3. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the May 16, 2018
meeting and received and filed the Monthly Reports for May and June 2018 .
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
(TCASA) FOR RESERVED USE OF A PORTION OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD
AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR FALL PRACTICES FROM AUGUST 20 -
NOVEMBER 12, 2018
The Commission approved the request with the following conditions:
1 . The outfield fence on the softball field will be relocated to the outfield edge
of the dirt infield by August 1, 2018. All fences to be removed by
December 1, 2018;
2 . All practices must be kept on the fenced off infield of the softball field;
3. Batting practice should be faced towards the backstop, away from the
outfield area to eliminate or reduce the numbe r of balls hit into A YSO
practice/game areas; and
4. Staff will have the authority to revoke the permit if any of the above
conditions are not met or are not corrected after notification to TCASA.
B. REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF A FEE WAIVER FROM AUTUMN
YEARS, INC . FOR RESERVED USE OF THE LIVE OAK PARK
COMMUNITY CENTER FOR A GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION
The Commission approved the request. Autumn Years , Inc. will begin
providing home delivery meals to local seniors this fall.
C. PROPOSED COMMITTEE ON AGING
The recently adopted Senior Master Plan calls for the City to establish a new
standing committee to advise the Parks and Recreation Commission and City
Council on older adult issues and concerns. The Commission reviewed the
criteria and standards developed by staff for a proposed Committee on
Aging. The Commission approved staff's recommendation with one
amendment adding "and provide an annual report card to the Commission
and City Council" to the first item under DUTIES.
5. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for the

CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actions of July 18, 2018 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of
Citizen Education and Communication. ·
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 City Budget.
