SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF JUNE 12 , 2018
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Plann ing Commission
(Commission) actions from their meeting of June 12 , 2018 .
BACKGROUND:
On June 12, 2018 , the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
The following is a summary of actions taken at the June 12 , 2018 meeting :
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-O'Leary, Vice-Chair Cordes , Cha ir Marston
Absent: Commissioner-None
Excused: Commissioner-Haddad, Lee
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of May 22 ,
2018 .

3. PUBLIC HEARING
A. A MODIFICATION TO A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (CUP) FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL (FOOTHILL
PREPARATORY SCHOOL) ON THE PROPERTY OF FIRST LUTHERAN
CHURCH
The Commission approved a modification to an existing CUP located at First
Lutheran Church, 9123 Broadway to allow a private high school (grades 9-
12). The high school, Foothill Preparatory School, is expected to have a
maximum enrollment of 155 students with nine employees. Operating hours
are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m . to 5 p.m. Ample parking is available
on-site to provide the required 40 parking spaces for the high school. The
property is located in the R-1 (Single-Family Residential) zone, and is
designated as Institutional, by the City's General Plan.

7. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER
Planning Manager Reimers stated that a workshop to discuss standards for the R-
2 and R-3 (medium and high density residential) zones will take place at the
Commission meeting of June 26. He updated the public that workshops for
additional zoning topics will be discussed every fourth Tuesday of each month
through September followed by a Community Meeting reg arding the entire zoning
code that will reflect the Mid-Century General Plan to be final ized in 2019. He
then advised the Commission to notify staff if they would like to attend the
upcoming APA California Chapter Conference taking place October 7-10, in San
Diego .

The Commission meeting was adjourned at 8:21 p.m .

of Citizen Education and Communication.
