SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF
MAY 16,2018
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of May 16, 2018.
BACKGROUND:
On May 16, 2018 , the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled
meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the May 16 , 2018 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Georgina , Vance, Vice-Chairman Haddad, Chairman
Baroldi
Absent: Commissioner -None
Excused : Commissioner-Rosso
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the April 18, 2018
meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for April 2018 .

3 . NEW BUSINESS
A . REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL)
FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AND CONCESSION
STAND AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR ALL STAR GAMES AND PRACTICES
FROM JUNE 1 -JULY 31 , 2018
The Commission approved the request including extension of park hours to
11 p .m . Monday through Saturday for completion of tournament games only .
TCALL is to pay all staff costs after 10 p .m .
The Commission added a second item from TCALL to the agenda as an
urgency item since the request came to attention of the City after the agenda
had been posted and there was a need to act on the item before the next
regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission
REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL)
FOR RESERVED USE OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD AT LIVE OAK PARK
FOR A DISTRICT 18 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT JUNE 9 , 11, 15, 16
The Commission approved the request.
B . REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
(TCASA) FOR RESERVED USE OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD AT LIVE OAK
PARK FOR POST-SEASON PRACTICES FROM MAY 17-JULY 1 , 2018
The Commission approved the request.
C . REQUEST FROM BLISS AND WISDOM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION
FOR RESERVED USE OF THE PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION AND
GRASS AREA AT TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL
ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17,2018
The Commission approved the request.
4. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for
May 2018.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actions of May 16, 2018 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of
Citizen Education and Communication .

FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18 City Budget.
