HomeMy Public PortalAbout2014-027 Resolution Recognizing & Thanking Ed Belland for Service as Public Safety DirectorMember Martin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2014-27 RECOGNIZING AND THANKING ED BELLAND FOR HIS SERVICE AS PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF MEDINA WHEREAS, Ed Belland has been a valued full time City of Medina employee in the Police Department of the City since August 5, 1991; and WHEREAS, Belland has served as a licensed peace officer at the City of Medina for over twenty years; and WHEREAS, Belland has assembled a City staff with the skills and work ethic which will serve the City well going forward; and WHEREAS, Belland has been the Public Safety Director/Police Chief for the last seventeen years; and WHEREAS, Belland implemented a 24-hour/7 days a week department; and WHEREAS, Belland created the Police Sergeant and Police Investigator positions; and WHEREAS, Belland was involved in establishing the West Metro Drug Task Force; and WHEREAS, Belland has served as the City of Medina Emergency Manager for the last seventeen years: and WHEREAS, Belland was instrumental in the establishment of the Lake Area Emergency Management Group which he presently chairs; and WHEREAS, Belland showed strong leadership and vision throughout the planning and construction of the new Police Department Facility at 600 Clydesdale Trail. WHEREAS, Belland brings great leadership skills, attitude and work ethic to the job daily; and WHEREAS, the City of Medina expresses sincere gratitude for Ed's dedication and continued service to the Medina community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Medina recognize and thank Ed Belland for his service as Public Safety Director, which will have a lasting positive impact on the City.
