CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2014-62
RESOLUTION. SUPPORTING A MINNESOTA BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL
RESOURCES CLEAN WATER FUND GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE
TOWER DRIVE WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Elm Creek Watershed Management Commission (Commission)
and the City of Medina propose to construct a water quality pond for the removal of
sediment and nutrients for the Tower Drive Water Quality Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, the intention of the project is to provide a calculable reduction in
phosphorous loads reaching Elm Creek, which is impaired for bacteria and dissolved
oxygen; and
WHEREAS, to construct this project the partners wish to pursue funds from the
Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) Clean Water Fund grant in the
amount of $351,800; and
WHEREAS, the partners will need to provide a 25% grant match or $87,950,
which can be in the form of cash and cash value for in -kind services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Medina
approves the submission of a grant application to pursue BWSR Clean Water Fund funds
for the Tower Drive Water Quality Improvement Project in partnership with the Elm
Creek Watershed Management Commission.
