CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION 2014-65
RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONVEYANCE OF
TAX -FORFEITED LAND
WHEREAS, the city of Medina (the "City") is a municipal corporation, organized and
existing under the laws of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. § 282.01, Subd. la.(e), permits conveyance of tax -forfeited land
to a governmental subdivision for an authorized public use under certain circumstances; and
WHEREAS, two parcels of land with the Property Identification Numbers
13-118-23-22-0015 and 14-118-23-14-0012 and which are described in Exhibit A, attached
hereto, (the "Properties") have become tax -forfeited land; and
WHEREAS, the Properties are adjacent to an existing trail identified in the City
Comprehensive Plan and Parks and Trails Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. § 282.01, Subd. 1a.(e) establishes that authorized public uses
include trails for walking, bicycling, or other recreational purposes, along with a reasonable
amount of surrounding land maintained in its natural state; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that the Properties contribute to a reasonable
amount of land surrounding the trail to be maintained in its natural state and also may allow for
future expansion and maintenance of the existing trail and other recreational purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Medina, Minnesota
hereby directs and authorizes the Mayor and City Administrator -Clerk to submit an application
to the commissioner of the department of revenue and to take other necessary actions to request
conveyance of the Properties to the City for the authorized public uses noted above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council requests the Hennepin County
Board consider and provide a favorable recommendation of such conveyance.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Pederson
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Anderson, Martin, Martinson, Pederson, Weir
And the following voted against same:
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
