HomeMy Public PortalAbout20030801 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 1, 2003 CALL TO ORDER 1 The Council "Brown Bag" Work Session of August 1, 2003, was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Angle, Gordon, Groner, Olsen, Viessman, Vogel, and Weber Absent: Berry Ferguson, Klindt, A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Mayor John Landwehr announced he will not be present at the August 4 Council Meeting, and that President Pro Tempore Cliff Olsen will preside at the meeting in his absence. VETO MESSAGE Mayor John Landwehr explained his reason for what he termed a "friendly veto" of Bill 2003 -56, citing his prepared veto message. BILLS INTRODUCED 2003 -63: Jim Hartley stated that staff is going to request an amendment to this bill to change it to say "other parking fees." NEW BUSINESS The issue of manhole covers was brought up, and Councilman Angle felt that discussions need to be held because of some recent problems that citizens are concerned about. Councilman Richard Groner had questions about the letter distributed from B. J. Jones regarding the Rock Hill Road rezoning issue. He wanted to know if a new fee was paid, which, in his opinion, would make it a new issue. He stated if no new fee was paid, then they would be considering the old issue. COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 1, 2003 2 INFORMAL CALENDAR Councilman Angle stated Bill 2003 -50 will remain on the Informal Calendar. Mayor John Landwehr once again reminded the Council that the purpose of the brown bag meeting is to allow the Council to discuss items on the agenda well in advance of the Council Meeting, and he asked Council Members to let staff know between now and Monday night if there will be any questions raised so staff can be prepared to answer them. No official actions were taken since this was a work session only. The meeting adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
