Reference is further nada to your letter of April 30, 1967 in which
you inquire as to our plaza in connection with the ebove Project.
to have purposely held off in"answering your letter until the mew
Village Board members sera elected and sworn in. For your inform-
ation, the make up of the Board is about the same as before and Bob
' Foee is sti.11 assigned to running the airport and designated as Air-
port Mason, son,.At our organizat3 oriel meeting, the matters referred
to in your .letter were given a lengthy and thorough diecussion and
it wes decided to try to get something started on the Oiling Project
es 00= ,as possitlee The Board ^ass not in favor of starting the con-
struction as far south as Station 8 / ma however. To try to get . the
start of the oiling far enough north on the Field, so that we have sone-
thing useable left, we &Jaded to do a. little levelling oe the far hill
so that. the 40 -to 1 approach angle would 'hit someplace further toward
the north end of -the strip. Tith this in mind,, we ran some /ovQls and
decided that if the back, hill were lowered so.that it would not project
above the small hill close to tha end of the strip on an extender? 40 to
1 angle, there vrould be several more feet of ,runway available for, oil-
ing under the Project.. 1ft extending this angle on the profile.shoot
cot
and also on the ground, it ap ears that the start of the oiling could.
be at epproxi, nzete Station 4 l85. This would move the start of the
.Project soee 400 feet closer to the north end of the strip end would
give us a chorea to put'down some hind of a dust °oat to protest our-
selves during the summer months - of airline -operation. (80O or 700 '
feet_ of this yeuld be pretty costly for us to hendle on our own.) At
any rate, we have undertaken this work and it is now in ireeresa on a
force account basis. she rates we are, enjoying are very favorable
seed the job will soon be completed. ' 4 don't wish to delay Fpproval
of the Oiling Project et this tire by submitting this grading as part
et the Project, but we may, later in the a sr, a-k for oceeldesretion

Dear Mr. Perry:
;deference is made to your letters of , u:e 17, June 20 and July 5, 1957
and their enclosures.
'Slue to a shortage of local funds, the lateness of the season d the lank
of a contractor currently working at 'cC'all, the Allege Board of Trustees
has elected to postpone this Project until a later date. _,fe are inter-
ested in having the Project continued until the next :fiscal Year or the
one thereafter, if it is possible to do so. In view of the fast that it
has taken almost two years from the date of the original application to
cote this far, we are reluctant to give up all to -gather on the Projeot
but find it impossible to do much about it this year.
e are able at this time, however, to submit a receipt to your offioe
for the purchase of the land directly °Torth of the Airport, and if you
:ill inform us as to the form in which y u wish this receipt submitted,
we will be happy to forward it for reimburserant. as you will remember,
this purchase was made some years ago and has been included in the pre-
sent Project under the retroactive rule dealing with land aoquisition.
Furs ,fore. account clearing and leveling job is being oontinued on this
land to irTrove the north 'pproach Engle although we understand that
-_tee -+rosi Leennot be oonsidered for Vedexal Aid. 1st,
ward in obtaining the easement from grown on the land directly South of
the long runway. As should have something to report on this in the very
near future.
Kindly let us hear from you ►pith .regard to prooedure in submitting a claim
on the land aoquisition and be assured that we very deeply regret our in-
ability to proceed with the rest of the Project at this time. Be sure to
stop when you are this way so that we may disouss further plans fbr our
Airport. In the meantime let us hear from you.
Very truly yours,

Mr. Kenneth S. Perry . September 30, 1957
. Helena, MontWle,
but in -no event later than_three years from the date of the Grant.Agrec-
Mont." As has been mentioned on other occasions ard:in previoui corres-
pondence, the Boerd of Trustees of -the Village of McCall has no•objeotion
whatsoever to improving the local Airport when these improvements can be.
justified from the standpoint'of need and use. To illustrate, the record
of the Village as a cooperator in previous Projeots has bean en outstand-
ing ors, we having led the -fight and the work in the oondemnation of land
and in the first phases of the construction and stabilisation of the strip.
.To illustrate further, we have aociuited the land immediately adjoining the
field on the north and have, on our omn, undertaken the clearing and a
partial leveling. -job during the past -two seasons. _Ve Are currently in
the process- e'procuring an easement on the lend to the south of the Air=
port so as to assure proper use of this land in the future. All these
thing! we have and are doing beoause we billies,* that they are necessary
to the successful operation of the MoCall Munioipel Airport. .
We do -not believe, hatiever, that oonditiona mill have changed in three
years or even ten years to the extent that will make it necessary for us'
improve our present approximate 30s1 approaeh:angle to a; 40slangle at .
what to us mould be a tremendous cost. In short, we are quite.milling
that this stipulation be predicated on the need for the -improved glide
angle but are definite4 opposedto the provision on 4 time basis.
lithtbe above considerations in mind, vre wish to ask that the time limit
for *swept:moo of the Grant Agreement by the Village be extended for a
at least another year and that some consideration be given the waiving of
the 40s1 approaeh angle requirement until such time ta conditions make _
such an approach angle necessary for the safo-operation of the McCall
monioipal Airport.
Allow me to thank you for your_pationes in visiting for this letter.
Yours very truly,
Arthur M. Roberts, Chairman
Village Board of Trustees
McCall, Idaho
