HomeMy Public PortalAbout20030912 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 12, 2003 CALL TO ORDER 1 The Council "Brown Bag" Work Session of September 12, 2003, was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Angle, Berry, Gordon, Groner, Olsen, Absent: Ferguson, Klindt, Viessman, Vogel, and Weber There was not a quorum present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Consent Agenda: (e) Agreement with Nick's Family Restaurant — Questions were asked regarding the utilities at the airport cafe. Charlie Lansford, Interim Director of Transportation, was asked to get information about the cost of utilities for the cafe portion of the airport before the meeting on Monday night. City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus explained what the city provides in connection with the contract. BILLS PENDING 2003 -95: A letter from the Chamber of Commerce was received by the City regarding their pending economic development contract. Councilman Cliff Olsen asked that City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus draft an addendum to the contract to include the terms in the letter pertaining to Council liaison appointments to the Chamber. 2003 -80: The sponsors of this bill are actually Councilmen Ferguson and Vogel instead of Councilman Klindt as indicated on the agenda. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Richard Groner stated that the maps which were hanging on the wall were placed there to show the flood level and property involved in connection with the levee on the south side of the river. The maps showed the Wears Creek, Grays Creek and Boggs COUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 12, 2003 2 Creek areas, and discussion of funding options will be held at future meetings. Councilman Clyde Angle stated anyone who had concerns with the pending budget should get them to Finance Director Steve Schlueter, who will then relay them to himself. Councilman Clyde Angle requested that staff prepare a resolution supporting the city's employees currently serving in the United States armed forces to adopt at a future Council Meeting. Mayor John Landwehr commented that the city had adopted a similar resolution a few months back in support of all armed forces personnel. No official actions were taken since this was a work session only. The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
