Unfortunately, this is not uncommon which is the reason for trying to get three or more bids on a project. Pace Electric was the only contractor that attended the pre -bid meeting and had the advantage of reviewing the building and accessing the level of difficulities to install the proposed improvements. Since both bids were based on the same materials, so if you give ProLectric the benefit of the doubt, maybe their higher bid assumed more difficulty (higher labor costs) in completing the work. Or maybe they just threw in a huge number thinking no one else was bidding who knows...! I'm very disapointed that the other contractors Braddy Electric, Wade Electric and Russell Electric decided not to bid on the project. The bid from Pace is consistent with the budget estimate received from Russell Electric, when you consider that the Russell quote did not include the additional convenience outlets, Flourescent Fixtures, Floor Receptables, etc. My recommendation is to have the Board meet with Pace Electric, review their bid in detail and if no discrepantcies are found to award them a contract for the Lighting Improvements.
