CALL TO ORDER
The Council "Brown Bag" Work Session of January 30, 2004, was convened at 12:00 P.M.
by Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: Angle, Berry (came in 12:10 PM), Groner, Klindt, Olsen (arrived 12:05
PM), Viessman, Vogel, and Weber
Absent: Ferguson and Gordon
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Items were not necessarily discussed in order that they appeared on the agenda.
Public Hearing: Councilman Clyde Angle asked someone from staff to be able to speak
to the handout Councilman Groner distributed at the January 20 pre- meeting. Councilman
Groner explained the reason he distributed the handout and stated his concerns.
Councilman Groner had questions about the development. Mayor Landwehr stated there
will be someone from staff who can answer these questions at Monday night's meeting at
the appropriate time during the testimony period of the public hearing so everyone can hear
it.
Announcements of upcoming meetings and events: Mayor Landwehr will make a report
on the status of the Fourth of July event.
Mayor Landwehr stated he wanted to move the New Business item (scheduling a meeting
of the Convention & Conference Center Committee) to the "Announcements of upcoming
meetings and events" category.
2003 -165: Councilman Groner asked questions about the bidding process.
COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 30, 2004
2003 -156: Council wants to take this up right after the public hearing dealing with this issue
so the people present at the meeting won't have to stay for the entire meeting.
Closed Session: Councilman Groner said he will have questions on this and does not
believe it should be addressed in closed session because the bid has already been
opened. City Administrator Rich Mays stated that he believed it could be a closed session
issue, and stated his intent was not to discuss the bids in closed session but the city's
strategy in disposing of the property. Both he and Mayor Landwehr said they would need
to defer to legal council on the matter.
No official actions were taken since this was a work session only.
The meeting adjourned at 12:20 P.M.
