CALL TO ORDER
The Council "Brown Bag" Work Session of August 13, 2004, was convened at 12:05 P.M.
by Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: Berry, Brown, Crane, Harvey, Viessman, Vogel, and Weber
Absent: Ferguson, Martin
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Items were not necessarily discussed in order that they appeared on the agenda.
Appointments - Mayor John Landwehr stated that he has asked the following persons to
serve on an ad hoc committee to help select a lobbyist: Councilman Brian Crane, City
Administrator Rich Mays, City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus, Greg Gaffke, Gary Markenson,
and former Mayor George Hartsfield.
Bill 2004 -61 - Mayor John Landwehr explained that the city is seriously considering placing
a use tax issue on the November 2 ballot. He indicated that other public entities had
planned to place issues on the November ballot, so the city had planned to place the use
tax on the April ballot. However, in the last few days, the Mayor learned that those entities
had changed their plans, which meant the city would now have to place this issue on the
November ballot instead of April. The final certification date for the November ballot is
August 24, so if the Council wishes to pass the bill to meet that deadline, they will have to
schedule a special meeting before August 24.
No official actions were taken since this was a work session only.
