CALL TO ORDER

The Council "Brown Bag" Work Session of October 1, 2004, was convened at 12:10 P.M.
by Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: Berry, Harvey, Martin, Harvey, and Viessman
Absent: Crane, Ferguson, Schnitzler, Vogel, and Weber
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Items were not necessarily discussed in order that they appeared on the agenda.
Bill 2004 -82 - Human Resources Director Gail Strope explained the request to suspend the
rules so information can be ready for the employee benefits fair. She stated she had sent
out the backup information in the October 22 off -week packet so Council Members would
have plenty of time to review it.
Bill 2004 -85 - Councilman Kevin Brown asked to be added as a co- sponsor to this bill.
Bill 2004 -75 - Councilman Kevin Brown had questions about spending this amount of
money for this project. City PlannerJanice McMillan and Community Development Director
Pat Sullivan explained how the grant is set up and relayed staff's concerns for security at
the airport.
2004 -80 - Mayor John Landwehr asked City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus to explain the
memo distributed to the Council about this item. Mr. Nickolaus stated it would be allowable
to distribute copies of his memo to the press and to bidders. Mr. Nickolaus did explain the
highlights of what his memo stated about this particular project bid.
Bill 2004 -58 - City Administrator Rich Mays stated that Councilman Bob Weber plans to
leave this on the Informal Calendar until after the October 5 Finance Committee meeting

when the budget will be finalized.
No official actions were taken since this was a work session only.
