Town Clerk Wm.J. Bauer brought up the fact, that bill was received
from Murphy Construction Company for $390$.00 and $9$.38 for install-
ing chlorinator and meter. Mayor L. Seton Lindsay stated that the
Town was to pay only for the chlorinator and the connection of pipe
and the Club was to pay $909.00 for the Master Meter(see letter May
4th,1949 initial edbr General Arthur H. Carter) and the Club to pay
for cost of replacing one of their own cracked pipes. Upon motion
duly made and seconded the payment xf to Murphy Construction Compaay
for $ for the chlorinator was approved, check to be drawn as
soon as sufficient bank balance covers the amount and providing the
Town Clerk and Mayor is satisfied chlorination given satisfactory
service.
The Mayor drew attention to the fact that the Budget made no reference
for the purchase of a chlorinator. He pointed out, however, that the
Town had approved the making of a contract with the Gulf Stream Golf
Club to supply the Town with water and that the Town was to chlorinate
the water to meet approval of State Board of Health. Furthermore it had
been understood all along that this capital expenditure for the chlor-
inator would be met, if necessary, out of the Funds belonging to the
Town, now invested in Government Bonds, amounting to some $3700.00.
The question of By Pass around the Chlorinator was brought up and the
Mayor wqs instructed to take up the matter with General Carter. It was
the opinion of the Town Council that the By Pass should be installed
so that the flow of water would not be interrupted should the chlor-
inator need repairs.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was approved that a
payment of $25.00 be m -ide to Harry Purdom for his ass istance in
getting the chlorinator working.
The Town Clerk submitted an amendment to the contract between the
Gulf Stream Golf Club and the Town of Gulf Stream Golf Club under
which the Gulf Stream Golf Club supplies the Town with water, which
amendment has been agreed to and initialed by General Carter for the
Club and Mayor Lindsay for the Town reading as follows:
"It is further understood and agreed between both parties that:
At and for periords of not less that six months after the
inauguration of water service and for the duration of the
contract, the Town and the Club will mutually submit the Total
Meter readings of the Master Meter and of the various Town
Meters for comparison; and, further, if the Total of the various
Town Meters be in excess of the reading of the Master Meter for
any period, then the Town agrees to pay for such excess at the
agreed upon rate for such period and such amount of excess.
This clause is necessitated by the engineers estimate of the
"Slippage" of 15 G.P.M. required to actuate the chlorination
meter " -
The Commissioners, upon motion duly made and seconded, voted that all
trash over and above ordinary garbage, be charged for at a price of
$4.00 per load.
