PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR LEGAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, there exists a need for Professional Services to provide Legal
Defense Scrvices in connection with Labor Matters including, but not limited to
Police Grievances and Personnel Appeal; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A.40A;ll-5(1)(a) Profkssional Services are
exempt from the requirements of Competitive Bidding; and
WHEREAS, the Local Finance Officer has certified that funds are available;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret does hereby approve the appointment of Genova, Burns &
Vemc~a at a maximum cost not to exceed $15,000.00 billable per attached
contract;
BE 1T FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute said contract;
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded without Competitive
Bids in accordance with N.J.S.A.40A:ll-5(I)(a) due to the specialized and
professional nature of the services provided.

As per Resolution Number 00-366.
THE CONTRACTOR does hereby agrec to per£orm the following
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FOR LEGAL DEFENSE IN CONNECTION WITH
LABOR MATTERS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO POLICE FRIEVANCES
AND PERSONNEL APPEAL.
NOT TO EXCEED $15,000.00
According to the terms set forth in Rcsolution.
THE BOROUGH does hereby agree to pay the Contractor the sum set
forth in Resolution.
