SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF AUGUST 28, 2018 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission (Commission) actions from their Absent: Commissioner - meeting Excused: Commissioner - of August 28, 2018. BACKGROUND: On August 28, 2018, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the August 28, 2018 meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Haddad Present: Commissioner - Cordes, O'Leary Absent: Commissioner - None Excused: Commissioner - None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR , Marston, Vice Chair Lee, Chair The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of August 14, 2018. City Council September 18, 2018 Page 2 of 2 3. WORKSHOP A. ZONING CODE UPDATE -SIGN CODE The Commission held a workshop on Section 9-1 L of the Temple City Municipal Code which regulates all signs throughout the City. The commission received a presentation from staff, received comments from the public, and provided feedback to staff. 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS —None 5. NEW BUSINESS —None 6. COMMUNICATIONS —None 7. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER Planning Manager Reimers stated that he met with owners of Temple City Marketplace (the northwest corner of Las Tunas Drive and Rosemead Boulevard) regarding the parking issues that will be discussed at the Commission's meeting on September 11. The parking consultants will represent their scope of work for the parking study. After that, they will begin data collection. Mr. Reimers asked the commission to consider whether they want the consultant to wait until two vacancies in the shopping center are filled, or perform counts directly after the September 11 meeting. Mr. Reimers thanked the public for attending the workshop on the sign code. He reminded them that there would be a meeting on the Zoning Code administration and process on September 25 and then a revised Zoning Code would be presented in the fall or winter. 8. ADJOURNMENT The Commission meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of August 28, 2018, furthers the City's Strategic Goals of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year 2018-19 City Budget.
