SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF OCTOBER 17, 2018 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of October 17, 2018. BACKGROUND: On October 17, 2018, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the October 19, 2018 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Baroldi, Georgino , Rosso, Vice-Chairman Vance, Chairman Haddad Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner-None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the September 19, 2018 meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for September 2018. City Council November 6, 2018 Page 2 of 3 3 . NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF A FEE WAIVER FROM CONGRESSWOMAN JUDY CHU FOR RESERVED USE OF THE LIVE OAK PARK COMMUNITY CENTER FOR AN EMERGENCY PREAREDNESS WORKSHOP ON OCTOBER 27 , 2018 The Commission reviewed and approved the request to waive fees for the use of the Live Oak Park Community Center for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop . B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE TO HANG A BANNER ANNOUNCING REGISTRATION FOR THE 2019 SEASON AT LIVE OAK PARK; TO WAIVE THE 51 % RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT LIVE OAK PARK; AND AUTHORIZATION TO HANG SPONSOR BANNERS AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR THEIR 2019 SEASON The Commission reviewed and approved the request from Temple City American Little League to hang a registration banner for their 2019 season at Live Oak Park from October 18, 2018 -December 8 , 2018; to waive the 51 % residency requirement for reserved use of the baseball diamonds and athletic fields; and to allow sponsor banners to be hung on the tennis court fence for the duration of their 2019 season. C . REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION TO WAIVE THE 51 % RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT LIVE OAK PARK The Commission reviewed and approved the request from Temple City Amateur Softball Association to waive the 51 % residency requirement for reserved use of the athletic fields at Live Oak Park for their 2019 season . 4 . UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for the month of October 2018. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of October 17, 2018 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication . City Council November 6 , 2018 Page 3 of 3 FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 City Budget.
