Staff researched other manufacturers of video doorbell and security camera devices,
but was unable to locate any that offer a subsidy program for the purchase of their
devices. Nest, a competitor of Ring, only offers three incentives for rebates on their
thermostat devices.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
City Council's approval to participate in the Ring Subsidy Program promotes the City's
strategic goals of Public Health and Safety and Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Participation in the Ring Subsidy Program has a fiscal impact on the Fiscal Year (FY)
2018-19 City Budget. The current year's budget does not include funding for the Ring
Subsidy Program and a budget amendment in the amount of $20,000 is necessary.
