SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF DE C E MBER 11, 2018 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission (Commission) actions from their meeting of December 11 , 2018 . BACKGROUND: On December 11, 2018, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the December 11, 2018 meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Haddad , Marston , Chair O'Leary Absent: Commissioner-None Excused : Commissioner-Cordes 2 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of November 13, 2018 . City Council January 2, 2019 Page 2 of 3 3. PUBLIC HEARING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A RECYCLING FACILITY IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE VALUMART SHOPPING CENTER. THE FACILITY WILL CONSIST OF AN ENCLOSED AREA OF 441 SQUARE FEET WITH A RECYCLING CONTAINER, A SORTING AREA, AND A TRASH/STORAGE AREA. THE HOURS OF OPERATION WILL BE FROM 9:00A.M. TO 5:00 P.M .. MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THE FACILITY WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAYS. The Commission approved file PL 18-1466, adopted the resolution, and found that the project is exempt from CEQA. 4. ZONING CODE UPDATE A REVIEW OF COMMENTS RECEIVED AND REVISIONS TO THE DRAFT ZONING CODE UPDATE. Staff presented a staff report with analysis of the feedback received by the public and the Commission and the resulting revisions to the draft Zoning Code update. The Commission reviewed the comments and the recommended changes and directed staff to move forward with presenting the draft Zoning Code to the community. 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS-None 6 . NEW BUSINESS-None 7 . COMMUNICATIONS-None 8 . UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER Planning Manager Reimers encouraged residents to follow along on the Zoning Code update by e-mailing any comments or concerns to planning@templecity.us or visiting maketchappen.com . He acknowledged a resident who called him concerned about the R-1 zone update and summarized the person 's comments. The Temple City Marketplace parking study will not be ready until January. The City recently hired a new code enforc ement officer. Her name is Evelin Martinez. The City Manager's newsletter has an article regarding a new street name, Saunders Circle. It was named after the woman who came up with the City's slogan, "Home of Camellias." The City Council public hearing for the Series 2 Zoning Code Amendments has been rescheduled to January 15, 2019 . 9 . ADJOURNMENT The Commission meeting was adjourned at 9:31 p.m. City Council January 2, 2019 Page 3 of 3 CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of December 11, 2018, furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication . FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year 2018-19 City Budget.
