AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM
THE 2010 LOCAL HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Safety Administration (FHSA) has grant funding available
through its 2010 Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (Local HSIP); and
WHEREAS, said Local HSIP grant funds will provide up to Ninety Percent (90%) of a Sign
Improvement and Replacement project's total cost; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to the Federal Highway
Safety Administration; and
WHEREAS, if the City of Richmond receives the grant funds, such funds will be used to make
improvements to and replace various street, safety, and information signs within
the City of Richmond as required by federal mandates under the Safe,
Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act; and
WHEREAS, a local match of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) (10% of the project's total
cost) is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the Federal
Highway Safety Administration.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to
Four Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($450,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be used to make improvements to
and replace various street, safety, and information signs within the City of Richmond.
