CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Landwehr called the work session to order at 6:55 p.m..
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Layton, Martin, Pope, and Vogel
Absent: Berry, Harvey, and Schnitzler
Several staff members were also present.
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF ROUTE 179 CORRIDOR ANNEXATION ISSUE
Councilman Ferguson asked fora clarification on Mr. Piper's proposal and what constituted
1,000 feet west of Route 179. Staff clarified the issue.
Councilman Pope asked for the number of parcels and the population of the selected areas
under consideration and specifically asked for acreage of the Green /Samson parcel.
In answer to a question by Councilman Pope, City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus explained
the time line for getting the annexation issue on the February and April 2006 ballots.
Mr. Mays explained the Wildwood extension and the fact that it would have to be a
cooperative project with Cole County.
Councilman Brian Crane asked the Council to consider three different alternatives for
annexing along the corridor.
A lengthy discussion ensued with questions and observations from Councilmen Brown,
Layton, Vogel and Pope.
It was a consensus of the Council to ask the staff to prepare selected alternatives moving
from north to south for boundary line considerations. The staff will come back to the
Council with several alternatives for consideration.
The Council also asked the staff to report back with alternatives for contacting residents of
the affected area in a more direct fashion.
After some discussion, it was determined that the City Council must deliver to the staff the
boundary line for incorporation into a resolution by June 20, 2005.

An Annexation Committee meeting was set for Monday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Boone -
Bancroft Room.
