CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES
ADJOURNED MEETING OF MAY 30, 1989
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Pursuant to Agenda posted on May 26, 1989, Mayor Froehle
called the adjourned meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Present:
City: Councilmen Atkins, Breazeal, Gillanders,
Swain, Froehle and City Manager Koski
Chamber of
Commerce: President Greenburg, Milch and other
Executive Board Members
2. NEW BUSINESS:
A. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AGREEMENT -
The City Council reviewed the letter from the Chamber
of Commerce dated May 12, 1989, in which they proposed
a number of changes to the existing agreement between
the City of Temple City and the Chamber of Commerce.
Council reviewed these proposed changes, approved the
following amendments and returned the document to the
Chamber Board of Directors for consideration and ap-
proval.
1. (e) No change to present agreement.
(f) No change to present agreement except delete
the word "trade ".
(m) No change to present agreement except substi-
tute the word "business" for industry.
(n) No basic change to present agreement; however a
minimum of four newsletters to be published per
year.
(o) Changes proposed by the Chamber acceptable.
(p) Changes proposed by the Chamber acceptable.
The forgoing items are to be reviewed at the next
Chamber of Commerce Board meeting on June 8, 1989, and
response forwarded to the City prior to the Council's
budget session to be held on June 12, 1989.

B. CAMELLIA FESTIVAL -
City Council tentatively agreed to assume the responsi-
bility for insurance coverage for the Camellia Festival
activities. However, this will require sponsorship
solely by the City of Temple City. This matter was
presented to the Chamber representatives, who will
evaluate the matter and report back to the Council at
the earliest possible date.
C. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUDGET -
The Chamber of Commerce requested a continuation of the
existing contract, with a funding level of $45,000 plus
an additional $7,500 for holiday decorations. After a
discussion with the Chamber officials, a tentative
funding level of $33,300 plus an additional $7,500 for
holiday decorations was proposed. This matter to be
further reviewed by the Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors who will consider the proposal and report
back to the Council at the earliest possible date.
3. EXECUTIVE SESSION -
A. REPORT ON SALARIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS FY 1989 -90 -
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957, Council
recessed to a closed session to review the report on
salary and working conditions. No action was taken.
Further consideration will be given to the budget at
their study session to be held on June 12, 1989.
4. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M. The next regular meet-
ing of the City Council will be held on Tuesday, June 6,
1989, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 5938 North
Kauffman, Temple City.
