SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 19-5384 CONFIRMING
APPOINTMENT TO THE VACANT PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMISSIONER SEAT WITH TERM EXPIRING JUNE 309 2020
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to:
1. Adopt proposed Resolution No. 19-5384 (Attachment "A") confirming appointment
of Jose Tarin to the Parks and Recreation Commission with term ending June 30,
2020; and
2. Request the City Clerk to administer the Oath of Office to the new Commissioner.
BACKGROUND:
1. On November 13, 2018, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Donna Georgino
submitted her resignation letter.
2. On November 20, 2018, City Council directed staff to recruit for the vacancy on the
Parks and Recreation Commission.
3. On November 29 and December 13, 2018, City published recruitment notice in the
Temple City Tribune.

applicant withdrew
their application before the
interview date

confirmed.
18, 2019, City Council interviewed the three applicants during a special
meeting and appointed Jose Tarin to fill the vacancy on the Parks and Recreation
Commission.

ANALYSIS:
In light of Parks and Recreation Commissioner Georgino's resignation on November 13,
2018, City Council opened recruitment and interviewed three applicants to fill the vacant
commissioner seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The appointee to the
Parks and Recreation Commission will fill an unexpired term of office ending June 30,
2020.
The resolution of appointment is presented for City Council's consideration and
adoption. If appointed, the appointee will receive his Oath of Office at the City Council
Meeting of February 5, 2019.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
The City Council is requested to adopt proposed Resolution No. 19-5384 confirming
appointment of Jose Tarin to the Parks and Recreation Commission with a term of
office ending June 30, 2020,
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 City Budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT TO THE PARKS AND
RECREATION COMMISSION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
