Dear Mr. & Mrs. Conway, I did not receive your referenced documentation ( -I don't think that it transmitted via the steelroofing website). However, I will go over the typical installation /warranty procedures for you: Usually, when a roofing installation is completed, the Galvalume sheet supplier will provide the roofing contractor with the warranty materials for the project. The warranty materials typically contain information regarding the specific warranty period for the type of panels used in the roofing, as well as contact information for the supplier and /or the steel mill that originally produced the sheet. This information is important because it is the producing mills themselves, as well as the Galvalume sheet suppliers and /or distributors, that ultimately perform on the warranty offered on the sheet, should the need arise. If your roofing contractor provided you with that information, you should be able to contact the supplier to initiate any warranty - related assistance you may need. If the roofing contractor did NOT provide you with that contact information, I would have to suspect two things: They either DIDN'T get the sheet they used from a licensed producer (there are some unlicensed producers out there, unfortunately; although most are in China), OR they were never properly trained in the installation of the sheet (usually that training is provided by suppliers and /or distributors) and so, were not qualified to install sheet that could then be covered by the warranty. I tend to agree with you based on your description: Something smells a little 'fishy' here... And any time a contractor will not return phone calls it's not a good sign. Just thinking out loud: Perhaps you could have a friend call this guy and pretend to be interested in a roofing installation? Could s /he then request information regarding where the contractor sources his sheet and how the warranty program on the sheet works? At least then you could find out whether or not the roofer actually HAS a sourcing relationship with a qualified distributor /supplier? I feel helpless to offer much real assistance; but your description of this ceratinly doesn't seem like the typical, straightforward installation process. I'm afraid that without proper documentation regarding the sourcing of the sheet, you won't be able to obtain warranty support. It is very angering to hear about people who may have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous contractors. If this is the case, not only have you been taken advantage of, but our product's good name has also been dragged through the mud in the process. If you can find out the name of the supplier or distributor that originally provided the sheet, they MIGHT at least try to help by working as a go- between in the situation. Please let me know what you find out in this situation. Also, I just happened to think that you might want to talk to some of the other, larger Galvalume sheet retailers in Georgia. They might have some anecdotal information about the roofer you used that could help you. 1 You can view a list of suppliers on the steelroofing.com website under the "Where to Buy" link. I hope this information helps in some way.
