HomeMy Public PortalAbout20050812 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 12, 2005 CALL TO ORDER 1 The August 12, 2005, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 PM by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Brown, Crane, Harvey, Layton, Martin, and Pope Absent: Berry, Ferguson, Schnitzler, and Vogel A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Items were not necessarily discussed in order that they appeared on the agenda. Public Hearings: Mayor John Landwehr asked Finance Director Steve Schlueter to explain at Monday night's public hearings how the property tax levy works as it relates to the reassessment. Consent Agenda: Item (c): Discussion was held regarding the legislative consultant agreement. The Council indicated they would ask at Monday night's meeting that the item be held over until they have more information. Bills Pending: 2005 -44: Councilman Brian Crane stated there will be a substitute bill distributed for 2005- 44. 2005 -62: Mayor John Landwehr stated that 2005 -62 was not included in the Council Packet as it was removed from the agenda while the packets were being copied. It will be introduced at the September 6 meeting. COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 12, 2005 2 Closed Session: Mayor John Landwehr stated staff has indicated a need to hold a closed session, so the agenda will be amended to reflect that addition and posted and distributed to media accordingly. Public Hearings: a. Voluntary Annexation of 6.3 Acres Located in the 2700 Block of W. Edgewood and Adjacent Right -of -Way Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fast made a staff presentation outlining the background of the request to annex the proposed area. Following her presentation, no one came forward to speak regarding this issue. Mayor John Landwehr declared the evidentiary portion of this public hearing concluded. Voluntary Annexation of 3.2 Acres Described as Lot 29, Chapel Hill Commons Subdivision, Section 4, Located in the 3500 Block of Chapel Hill Road Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fast made a staff presentation outlining the background of the request to annex the proposed area. Following her presentation, the following persons came forward to speak regarding this issue. In favor: Mr. Duane Schreimann appeared on behalf of the applicant, and showed maps and an architect's rendition of the proposed housing projects which will be developed in the annexed area. No one spoke in opposition to the proposed annexation. Mayor John Landwehr declared the evidentiary portion of this public hearing concluded. There being no other business brought forward, the meeting adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
