HomeMy Public PortalAbout09 09 16 Special Meeting 2MINUTES OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM SPECIAL TOWN COMMISSION MEETING BEING HELD PURSUANT TO SECTION 286.011(08), FLORIDA STATUTES, ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2016 IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE ATTORNEY CLIENT CLOSED DOOR SESSION WHICH IS SCHEDULED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE REGULAR MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION. I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL (IN TOWN COMMISSION CHAMBERS) Mayor Morgan called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. Those answering Roll Call: Scott W. Morgan Mayor Thomas M. Stanley Vice Mayor Paul A. Lyons, Jr. Commissioner Joan K. Orthwein Commissioner Donna S. White Commissioner John Randolph Town Counselor William Thrasher Town Manager Rita Taylor Town Clerk Edward Allen Acting Police Chief II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA There were no changes to the agenda. III. MAYOR MORGAN ANNOUNCED: A. Pursuant to section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, the Town Commission is adjourning and commencing a closed door attorney client session for the purpose of discussing settlement negotiations and/or strategy relating to litigation and expenses in the case of Martin E. O'Boyle vs Town of Gulf Stream, Case no. 502014ca004474ag, pending in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida. B. The estimated length of the session is approximately thirty to forty-five minutes. C. Those persons to be attending the session are: Mayor Scott W. Morgan; Vice Mayor Thomas M. Stanley; Town Commissioners Paul A. Lyons, Jr., Joan K. Orthwein, and Donna S. White; Town Manager William H. Thrasher; Town Attorney John C. Randolph; Attorney Joanne M. O'Connor; Attorney Robert A. Sweetapple and Court Reporter from Pleasanton & Marsaa Court Reporting. The Mayor added that Attorney O'Connor is not present. D. Mayor Morgan asked the attendees to move into the private area that has been prepared for the Attorney/Client Closed Door Session. 01 IV. RECONVENE SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING Mayor Morgan reconvened the Special Meeting at approximately 6:40 p.m. and announced that at the Closed Door Session that had just concluded the Commission gave direction to the Attorneys in regard to the matter at issue.
