AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
WHEREAS, The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has funding available
through its Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Fire Department desires to submit a grant application to
obtain seventy-five (75) sets of Personal Protective Equipment, one (1)
washer/extractor unit, one (1) dryer unit, and one (1) gear drying unit; and
WHEREAS, A ten percent (10%) local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to
One Hundred Fifty-nine Thousand Four Hundred Thirty-five Dollars and Zero Cents
($159,435.00).
2. The City of Richmond, Indiana hereby commits to provide local funds from the Fire
Department Budget in an amount up to Seventeen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifteen Dollars and
Zero Cents ($17,715.00) (10% of the total grant amount of $177,150) as required for said grant.
3. Said grant funding shall be used to purchase seventy-five (75) sets of Personal
Protective Equipment, one (1) washer/extractor unit, one (1) dryer unit, and one (1) gear drying
unit.
Passed and adopted this _7th _ day of _June 2010, by the Common Council of
the City of Richmond, Indiana.
