MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 16,2017, MEET ING 17 NOV 20 8 16Ar1
Meeting called to order at 3:40 pm.
Present were David Light,Judy Scanlon, Barbara Dean, Steve Ellis,Gretel Norgeot, and Conservation
Administrator John Jannell.
The minutes of the August 14 meeting were accepted by a vote of 4-0-1.
Putnam Farm Plans:John Jannell reported that he has been in contact with the DPW and has been told
that The Putnam Farm access way should be completed by March 2018.Jannell will be meeting soon
with town counsel regarding the grower's agreement and the legal requirements for a lottery and
advertising. Other matters to take care of include signage and visitor parking.Jannell plans to have the
planting field turned over before the ground freezes.
At present the planting field consists of five plots of about 1,500 square feet each,or a total area of
about 7,500 squarer feet. If there are more than ten applications for plots,said Jannell,the overall area
could be increased.
David Light distributed "Estimated Irrigation Water Use at Putnam Farm Site".Vegetables need about
one inch of water each week. Natural rainfall in Orleans runs between 15 and 18 inches over the 22-
week growing season. For a 1,500 square-foot plot,finches of irrigation water would, at present rates,
cost$49.35.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 pm.
