HomeMy Public PortalAbout20060113 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 13, 2006 CALL TO ORDER The January 13, 2006, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Layton, Schnitzler, and Vogel Absent: Berry, Martin, and Pope A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Items were not necessarily discussed in order that they appeared on the agenda. Councilman Mike Harvey stated he will not be at the meeting Tuesday night, so Councilman Edith Vogel will be asked to give the opening prayer. Councilman Kevin Brown stated he will also not be present at Tuesday night's meeting. Bills Introduced: 2006 -134, 2006 -135, and 2006 -138: Mayor John Landwehr asked if Airport Division Director Ron Craft could make a presentation at the February 6 meeting to give a brief overview of the improvement projects at the airport within the next five years or so. Informal Calendar: 2005 -116 will remain on the Informal Calendar. City Planner Janice McMillan reported that stated some neighborhood meetings are being scheduled between the developer and the citizens to discuss this project. She stated the developer has indicated he plans to revise his plan. New Business: Councilman Mike Harvey stated since he will be gone Tuesday night he would ask that the COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 13, 2006 items he had previously asked to be put on the agenda for discussion under New Business be postponed until a future meeting. Conference Call Meeting Participation Status: Councilman Jonathon Schnitzler asked the status of enabling Council Members to participate in Brown Bag meetings when they are unable to attend in person. Information System Manager Bill Betts explained how using conference calling will achieve that goal, and stated that the Council should be able to begin using it by the next Brown Bag meeting on February 3. Jail Facility Status: Councilman Edith Vogel and Councilman Kenneth Ferguson gave a status report on their attendance at a recent meeting of the County Jail facility. They explained how that the Committee had been divided into six sub - committees, and answered questions asked by the Mayor and other City Council members. ADJOURNMENT: There being no other business brought forward, the meeting adjourned at 12:25 P.M.
