Brewster All Citizens Access Committee Meeting

February 15 , 2019
Present: Joan Carstonjen , Mary Haynes , laurel Labdon , Judy Miller , Roberta Murphy ,
Denise Rego (alternate ) , Cindy Bingham (Select Board liaison )
1 . Come to order : Ms . Corstan jen called the meeting to order at 2 : 05 pm at the
Brewster Police Department conference room .
2 . Secretary's Report : It was moved , seconded , and unanimously voted to approve
the minutes of the January 18 , 2019 committee meeting .
3 . Old Business : Ms . Miller reported that Mark O' Brien obtained a revised
quote of over $ 10 ,000.00 for installation of the 3 automatic doors at The Captains
Golf Course . That would require the project go out to bid . The $ 6969. 00 bid was
based on incorrect specifications . Victor Staley will be contacted & asked to
review the project to determine what will meet ADA guidelines .
The ACAC warrant article language is broad enough to cover other projects such as
repairing the Pavilion ramp .
4 . New Business : Denise Rego reviewed the list of Brewster restaurants and
their accessibility. She & Ms . Carstanjen will visit some sites to gather updated
information .
5 . Items for next meeting's agenda : Kyle Hinkle , Brewster Chamber of
Commerce , will be invited to the April meeting to discuss ways the Chamber can
work with the committee to publicize Brewster's accessible restaurants .
Ms . Rego will report on the updated list of Brewster's accessible restaurants .
Ms . Miller will report on the status of the automatic door project at The Captains ,
6 . Name March Chairperson : Ms . Labdon volunteered to chair the meeting .
7 . Other business not anticipated by the chair : Ms . Labdon suggested that the
ACAC present suggestions for 2020 accessible tours to the Historical Society.
Ideas mentioned included using the COA van or other vehicles such as trolleys .
Accessible tours will be on the ACAC's April agenda.
Next meeting : March 15 , 2019 at 2pm at the Brewster Police Facility.
The meeting was adjourned at 3 : 00 pm .
