HomeMy Public PortalAbout016-2009 - Grant - Dept of Justice - tech andORDINANCE NO. 16-2009 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, through its Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Program has grant funding available; and WHEREAS, the City of Richmond, through the Richmond Police Department, desires to submit a grant application to help with the expenses of technology and educational programs; and WHEREAS, no local match is required for this grant. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond Police Department is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, to assist with technology and educational programs. 2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said federal grant funding in an amount up to Sixty-five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($65,000.00). 3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist with funding of technology and educational programs.
