AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING
THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF
A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY,
NATIONAL ENERGY TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Energy, through its Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Block Grants has federal grant funding available; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond, through the Department of Metropolitan Development,
desires to submit a grant application to help with the expenses of LED traffic lights
and costs associated with preparing a new transportation plan for the City of
Richmond; and
WHEREAS, No local match is required for this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond Department of Metropolitan Development is hereby authorized
to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Energy, to assist with the expenses of
LED traffic lights and costs associated with preparing a new transportation plan for the City of
Richmond.
2. The City of Richmond Department of Metropolitan Development is authorized to
accept said federal grant funding in an amount up to One Hundred Sixty-nine Thousand Two
Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($169,200.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist with
expenses of LED traffic lights and costs associated with preparing a new transportation plan for
the City of Richmond.
Passed and adopted this _6th day of _July , 2009 by the Common Council of the
City of Richmond, Indiana.
