ORDINANCE NO. 19-2009
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM
THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Justice, through its Edward Byrne Memorial
Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Competitive Grant has grant funding available; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond, through the Richmond Police Department, desires to
submit a grant application to help with the expenses of construction of classrooms
at the Police Training Facility; and
WHEREAS, No local match is required for this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond Police Department is hereby authorized to submit a grant
application to the U.S. Department of Justice, to assist with the expenses of construction of
classrooms at the Police Training Facility.
2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said federal grant
funding in an amount up to Four Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($400,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist with
expenses of construction of classrooms at the Police Training Facility.
Passed and adopted this day of April, 2009 by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
