CALL TO ORDER

The August 18, 2006, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor
John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: Brown, Crane, Harvey, Layton, and Vogel
Absent: Berry, Ferguson, Martin, and Pope
A quorum was not present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Presentations:
Councilman Mike Harvey will make a status report on the progress being made by the
Conference Center Committee on a conference center in the city.
Appointments:
The Council asked City Administrator Steve Rasmussen to have staff contact the
appointees sometime today or Monday to make sure the proposed appointees are still
available to fill vacancies.
Bills Introduced:
2006 -54: Councilman Mike Harvey asked questions about the new parts that are on the
surplus property list and wanted to make sure the city has exhausted every available
avenue to recover the maximum refund on those parts before offering them for sale at
auction.
Bills Pending:
2006 -45: Councilman Kevin Brown said he will be offering an amendment to this bill which
will modify the amount appropriated from the general fund to $290,000 and the water fund

for $10,000 for a total of $300,000.
2006 -51: Councilman Mike Harvey stated he will place this on the Informal Calendar until
the Special Council Meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 24, to allow more Council
Members to be present when it is voted on. He asked that it be included on the August 24
agenda.
Resolutions:
RS2006 -13: Questions were asked about this regarding the cost of curbs and gutters. This
resolution will replace the issue currently on the table under Unfinished Business.
