PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACTS FOR LEGAL
SERVICES
WHEREAS, there exists a need for professignal services
to provide the Borough with a defense zn connection
with the matter titled Caldwell vs. Borough of
Carteret,et,al;and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A.
professional services are exempt from
of competitive bidding; and

WHEREAS, the local finance officer has certified that
funds are available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Mayor and Council
of the Borough of Carteret does hereby approve the
appointment of Spadoro and Hilson,Es~s.at a maximum cost
of not to e~--~_~_~- ~l~ble per attached
contract.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Borough Clerk
are hereby authorized to execute said contract.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded
without competitive bids in accordance with N.J.S.A.
40A:ll-5(1)(a) due to the specialized and professional
nature of the services provided.

Principal office at the Borough Hall 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey,
As per Resolution Number 00-374.
THE CONTRACTOR does hereby agree to perform the following
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE TO PROVIDE THE BOROUGH WITH A DEFENSE 1N
CONNECTION WITH THE MATTER CALDWELL VS BOROUGH.
NOT TO EXCEED $20,000.00.
According to the terms set forth in RESOLUTION.
THE BOROUGH does hereby agree to pay the Contractor the sum set
forth in Resolution.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have hereunder set their hands and seals or
caused these presents to be signed by their proper corporate officers and their
corporateseals to be hereto affixed, the day and year written above.
