SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF APRIL 9 , 2019
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Co un cil is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission
(Commission) action s fro m their meeting of April 9, 2019 .
BACKGROUND :
On Ap ril 9 , 2019 , the Commission held the i r regularly schedu led meeting .
ANALYSIS :
The following is a summary of actions taken at the April 9 , 2019 , meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner -Cordes , Haddad , Marston , Vice-Chair Lee , Chair
O'Leary

2. CONSENT CALE NDAR
The Commission approved the minutes from the ir regular meeting of March 26 ,
20 19 and the resolution denying fi le PL 19-1705 Zoning Code Te xt Amendment to
Limit the He ight of Bu ildings on the Front Lot of Flag and Tiered Lo t Subdivis ions .

3 . CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING
A REQUEST FOR A ZONE VARIANCE AND MINOR SITE PLAN REVIEW FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TWO-STORY, SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCE. THE
APPLICANT REQUESTS THAT THE CITY ALLOW A VARIANCE FROM THE
REQUIRED 15-FOOT REAR YARD SETBACK DUE TO AN IRREGULARLY-
SHAPED LOT.
The Commission voted 4-1 to approve the attached reso lution to the staff report for
file PL 18-1630 , to deny the variance request and remove section four of the
reso lution .

7 . UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER
Planning Manager Reimers announced that the Zoning Code Amendment Update
will be brought back to the Planning Commission on May 14 , 2019 . At the next
scheduled meeting for Apri l 23 , 2019 we will be presenting a P lanet Fit ness Gym
that plans to operate 24 hours a day. The ord i nance regu lating the height in
buildings on front lots will go to the City Council on May 21 , 2019. The mi xed use
development project across from Denny's restaurant wi ll probably be presented in
May at a Director's Hearing . He wished happy birthday to Cha ir O'Leary .
8 . ADJOURNMENT
The Commission meeting was adjourn e d at 8 :50p.m .
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actions of Apri l 9 , 2019 , furthers the City's Strateg ic Goal of
Citizen Education and Communication .
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an i mpact on the Fiscal Year 2018-19 City Budget.
