Home My Public Portal About20061013 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 13, 2006 CALL TO ORDER 1 The October 13, 2006, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Brown, Crane, Harvey, and Vogel Absent: Berry, Ferguson, Layton, Oetting, and Pope A quorum was not present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Public Hearings: Councilman Kenneth Ferguson plans to request that Bill 2006 -71 be placed on the Informal Calendar, but the Council will go ahead and have the public hearing as previously advertised. They will have further opportunity for public input before this is bill is acted on. Presentations from Staff, Consultants, and Invited Guests Mayor John Landwehr announced to the media who were present that a half -cent sales tax press conference will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the Greenway trail near Mike Kehoe Ford. Missy Bonnot from the Chamber of Commerce will be holding a meeting at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 17 regarding the Chamber's comprehensive plan for economic development. Consent Agenda Item (f): Discussion was held regarding this item. It will be considered separately on Monday night. Item (g): Mayor John Landwehr stated he would like to have CVB Director Jill Johnson present at the meeting Monday night to make a brief statement about the CVB budget, and be available to answer any questions on the CVB budget, and then he would like to allow another two weeks for the Council to review it before they vote on it. COUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 13, 2006 2 Following discussion, the City Clerk was asked to add Mike Bates to Presentations from Staff, Consultants, and Invited Guests to discuss items (h) and (i) of the Consent Agenda. Bills Pending: 2006 -88: Councilman Kevin Brown asked a question regarding Bill 2006 -88 and asked if Community Development Director Pat Sullivan could have that information before the Council votes on it Monday night. 2006 -86: City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus stated there will be a substitute Bill 2006 -86 to distribute to the Council at Monday night's pre- meeting. 2006 -87: Mayor John Landwehr asked City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus to take a look at all the committees to make sure all the committees which will be eliminated and rolled into another committee are listed in this ordinance. He also asked Council members to let him know by Monday night which of the four five - member committees they would like to serve on, giving first choice option to the senior member from each ward. Councilman Kevin Brown asked if those four committees could meet immediately after Monday night's Council meeting and elect officers. The Council agreed that would be a good idea, and asked the City Clerk to post the appropriate notices for those meetings. ADJOURN MENT The meeting adjourned at 1:00 P.M.
