MEMORANDUM DATE: June 4, 2019 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Bryan Cook, City Manager By: Cathy Burroughs, Director of Pa~ks and Recreation SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF MAY 15,2019 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of May 15, 2019. BACKGROUND: On May 15, 2019, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting . ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the May 15, 2019 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Baroldi, Rosso, Tarin, Vice-Chairman Vance , Chairman Haddad Absent: Commissioner-None Excused: Commissioner-None 2 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the April 17, 2019 meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for April 2019. City Council June 4, 2019 Page 2 of 2 3. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL) FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AND CONCESSION STAND AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR ALL-STAR GAMES AND PRACTICES FROM JUNE 5-JULY 31, 2019 The Commission approved a request from Temple City American Little League (TCALL) for reserved use of the athletic fields and concession stand at Live Oak Park for all-star games and practices from June 5 -July 31, 2019. Approval included extension of park hours until 11 :00 p.m. for completion of tournament games with TCALL to reimburse City of staff costs after 10:00 p.m. B. OVERVIEW OF PARK PATROL PROGRAM The Commission received and filed a report regarding the Park Patrol Program. Park Patrol Officers Arriola and Hoang were present and described their duties and common encounters at Temple City Park and Live Oak Park. 4. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for the month of May 2019. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of May 15, 2019 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 City Budget.
