Home My Public Portal About20061229 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 29, 2006 CALL TO ORDER 1 The December 29, 2006, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Berry, Brown, Crane, Klindt, Layton, Oetting, and Vogel Absent: Ferguson, Harvey, Pope A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS CONSENT AGENDA Item (b) - permissive use for awning, Community Development Director Pat Sullivan answered Councilman Berry's question about this issue. BILLS INTRODUCED: 2006 -114 (stormwater flood plain management) - Community Development Director Pat Sullivan said that staff would request that it be placed on the Informal Calendar. Mayor John Landwehr asked staff to have an announcement ready to make at Tuesday night's meeting. He suggested that Matt Morasch make that announcement under Upcoming Meetings and Events. 2006 -116 (vicious animals) - Councilman Brian Crane said there is a possibility that he may place this on the Informal Calendar. Councilman Dan Klindt said he has asked for some information from veterinarians on this issue and wanted to see what their information had to say before he voted on this. INFORMAL CALENDAR: 2006 -107 (downtown signs) - City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus distributed Substitute #2 and explained the changes in it. Mayor John Landwehr asked if the city wished to reserve COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 29, 2006 2 the right to address problems in the future if the signs become in disrepair or the business advertised is no longer there. Assistant Community Director Charles Lansford explained that this ordinance would not preclude the signs from the other sign regulations currently in the Code, and those issues would be addressed by those regulations. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Council Retreat - Mayor John Landwehr distributed a draft of the schedule for the Council Retreat scheduled for January 5 -6. He said he has talked to Mr. Stu Murphy and if the Council is ok with the list of topics on the schedule, he will get with Stu and bring him up to speed on the topics the Council plans to discuss. A brief discussion was held regarding details of the retreat itself. Work Session - City Administrator Steve Rasmussen reminded the Council of the Work Session scheduled on Monday, January 8 at 5:30 P.M. ADJOURN MENT The meeting adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
