AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM
THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA)
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has discretionary grant funding
available; and
WHEREAS, said FAA grant funds will provide up to Ninety Five Percent (95%) of an airport
improvement project's total cost; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to the Federal Aviation
Administration; and
WHEREAS, if the City of Richmond receives the grant funds, such funds will be used to
overlay runway 6-24; and
WHEREAS, overlaying the runway, as described above, will cost approximately One Million
Seventy -Three Thousand, Six Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Twenty -Two
Cents ($1,073,684.22); and
WHEREAS, a local match of Fifty -Three Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty -Four Dollars and
Twenty -Two Cents ($53,684.22) (5% of the project's total cost) is required; and
WHEREAS, the local match will be provided by the Indiana Department of Transportation in
the amount of Twenty -Six Thousand, Eight Hundred Forty -Two Dollars and
Eleven Cents ($26,842.11) (2.5% of the project's cost) and will require a local
contribution of Twenty -Six Thousand Eight Hundred Forty -Two Dollars and
Eleven Cents ($26,842.11) (2.5% of the project's cost).
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the Federal
Aviation Administration.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to
One Million Twenty Thousand Dollars ($1,020,000).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be used to overlay runway 6-24
at the Richmond Municipal Airport.
Passed and adopted this _6th_ day of _March _ 2006, by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
