Home My Public Portal About20070112 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 12, 2007 CALL TO ORDER 1 The January 12, 2007, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Brown, Crane, Harvey, Klindt, Layton, and Vogel Absent: Berry, Ferguson, Oetting, and Pope A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Mayor Landwehr announced a proclamation will be presented and added to the agenda under presentations from Staff, Consultants, and invited guests. The proclamation will declare January 27 as Willis Porter Corwin Day and he asked Councilman Kevin Brown to explain a bit about it since he is familiar with the honoree and the event. Associate City Counselor Drew Hilpert stated that the ordinance is the result of a request of the Transportation and Traffic Commission following complaints from citizens and the Post Office. He stated that at times the Post Office is unable to deliver mail because people park their vehicles in front of the mailboxes. BILLS INTRODUCED: 2006 -123: A discussion was held to answer questions asked by the Council about how this would affect citizens and how it would be enforced. 2006 -126: Councilman Cindy Layton suggested that Mr. Puri make an appropriate presentation at the Council meeting so the citizens are aware of what the project that is being proposed. Mayor Landwehr asked Steve Rasmussen if he could contact Mr. Puri and ask him to make a very brief presentation at the Council meeting. INFORMAL CALENDAR: 2006 -107: Another substitute to this bill was distributed as well as some information distributed by Ms. Carrie Carroll from the Downtown Business Association. Following COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 12, 2007 2 discussion, Mayor Landwehr suggested that staff and Ms. Carroll continue to have discussions in order to reach a final ordinance which both the city and the business owners can agree upon. 2006 -114 - This bill will remain on the Informal Calendar. 2006 -108 - This will also remain on the Informal Calendar. Councilman Kevin Brown informed the Council that he will not be able to attend the Council Meeting on January 16 due to other commitments. ADJOURN MENT The meeting adjourned at 12:40 P.M.
