CALL TO ORDER

The Council "Pre- Meeting" Work Session of January 16, 2007, was convened at 5:45 P.M. by
Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Berry (arrived at 5:48 PM), Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Layton,
Oetting, Pope (arrived at 5:53 PM), and Vogel
Absent: Brown
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
TO THE AGENDA:
City Administrator Steve Rasmussen announced that he would like the Council to consider
adding Bill 2006 -127, an emergency supplemental appropriation bill, for introduction at tonight's
meeting, to fund the purchase of street chemicals and salt for use on snow and ice. He stated
that the recent ice and snow storms experienced in the city have reduced the city's chemical
and salt supply to levels that would place the city in a very bad situation if another storm
occurred. He stated that he and Pat Sullivan will present the information at the Council meeting
under Miscellaneous Agenda Items.
*Councilman Michael Berry arrived at this point in the meeting.
Councilman Berry asked if staff believes it would be beneficial for Council to suspend the rules
and pass Bill 2006 -127 which Mr. Rasmussen was discussing when Councilman Berry arrived.
Mr. Rasmussen stated that staff had not planned to ask the Council to suspend the rules, but
if Council decided to do that, staff would be appreciative.
Steve Rasmussen asked Fire Chief Bob Rennick to make a brief presentation regarding our
city's fire personnel who have been dispatched to other cities to help in the wake of the severe
weather.
