Home My Public Portal About20070330 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION MARCH 30, 2007 CALL TO ORDER 1 The March 30, 2007, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by President Pro Tempore Brian Crane in the absence of Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Berry, Crane, Harvey, Klindt, Layton, Oetting, and Vogel Absent: Brown, Ferguson, Pope A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS BILLS INTRODUCED: Addition of Bills 2006 -166 and 2006 -167: A motion was made by Councilman Edith Vogel to amend the agenda to add these two bills, seconded by Councilman Cindy Layton, and approved unanimously. The bills, summaries, and amended agenda was distributed to the City Council, staff, and media present. City Administrator Steve Rasmussen explained the two items and answered questions asked by the Council. City Administrator Steve Rasmussen announced that a Conference Center Selection Committee open meeting will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 1:00 P.M. at which time presentations will be made by developers regarding their proposals for the West McCarty Street properties. City Administrator Steve Rasmussen announced that a retirement reception is being held today at the Jefferson City Police Department for Captain Jim Johnsen and invited everyone to stop by and give Captain Johnsen their best wishes. Mr. Rasmussen also announced that the annual Ice Show will be held this weekend and that Phil Stiles has tickets if any Council Members would like to have them. PENDING BILLS: 2006 -152 - Councilman Brian Crane stated he will be withdrawing this bill as well as his proposed substitute to Bill 2006 -151. COUNCIL WORK SESSION MARCH 30, 2007 2 RESOLUTIONS: RS2006 -29 - Following questions and discussion regarding the use of the Great Seal of the State of Missouri on the reverse side of the coin, Councilman Pete Oetting stated he will offer an amendment to his Resolution on Monday night which will allow the Council to allow a contest to be held and select the design for the reverse side of the coin from among the entries.
