Marion Smeal wanted to know why the unusual hours for the
meetings.
Mayor Reiman replied that Council Meetings have been scheduled
for 6:00 P.M. for this entire year and a portion of the end of last
year. Agenda Meetings have been scheduled for 5:00 P.M. because
it gives us the opportunity to have Department Heads in when need
be. Six O'clock is a common practice for Council Meetings
whether in Carteret or other places. Most Board meetings are
between 6:00 P.M. and 6:30 P.M.
Ms. Smeal then asked about Chrome. She said it is a laughing
stock. The townhouses are an eyesore.
Mayor replied that four years later that property has been acquired
at 14 million dollars of private money from the developer. The first
phase of townhouses are under construction and Phase 11 which
will start early spring will include commercial properties, store
fronts and apartments. There has been a slump in real- estate.
