HomeMy Public PortalAboutAll Citizens Access -- 2019-03-15 Minutes 19 Brewster All Citizens Access Committee Meeting DREIJSTH YJ t RK March 15 , 2019 Present: Laurel Labdon , Judy Miller , Roberta Murphy , Denise Rego (alternate) , Cindy Bingham ( Select Board liaison ) , Kyle Hinkle (guest ) 1 . Come to order : Ms . Labdon called the meeting to order at 2 : 02 pm at the Brewster Police Department conference room . 2 . Secretary's Report : It was moved , seconded , and unanimously voted to approve the minutes of the February 15 , 2019 committee meeting . 3 . Old Business : Ms . Miller reported that Victor Staley was contacted & asked to review the Captains Golf Course automatic door project to determine what will meet ADA guidelines . Mark O' Brien obtained a revised quote for installation of the automatic doors . The doors have been ordered and are being fabricated . 4 . New Business : Kyle Hinkle , Brewster Chamber of Commerce , reported that most local restaurants are in pre- existing , non- conforming buildings . There are several layers of permits/approval necessary to make changes ; the changes are also expensive . A discussion ensued as to how to help educate local businesses owners regarding the differences between improving accessibility and meeting ADA standards . The committee will design a postcard for businesses outlining the differences . The committee will also rate the accessibility of Brewster's restaurants and give the information to Kyle so it's published in the Chamber's guide to Brewster . 5 . Items for next meeting' s agenda : Rate the accessibility of Brewster's restaurants . Discuss improved accessibility vs . ADA standards postcards . Discuss ways to improve access to Historical Society tours : types of accessible vehicles , possible short tour in 2019 as trial , make an accessibility plan for 2020 to present to the Historical Society , 6 . Name April Chairperson : Ms . Rego volunteered to chair the meeting . 7 . Other business not anticipated by the chair : Ms . Labdon suggested that the ACAC present suggestions for 2020 accessible tours to the Historical Society. Ideas mentioned included using the COA van or other vehicles such as trolleys . Discussion of options for accessible tours will be on the ACAC's April agenda. Next meeting : April 19 , 2019 at 2pm at the Brewster Police Facility. The meeting was adjourned at 2 : 55 pm .
