CALL TO ORDER
The September 26, 2011, Council Work Session was convened at 5:33 P.M. by Mayor Eric
Struemph.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Bray, Griffith, Koon, Harvey Luebbert, Pope, Schulte, and Scrivner
Absent: Carroll and Weber
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Legislative Updates
Interim City Administrator / City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus introduced Tom Rackers, the
City's legislative lobbyist. Mr. Rackers also introduced Dick Wiles who works with him, and
is also at tonight's meeting. Mr. Rackers gave a summary of the 2011 legislative session,
which he stated he felt was very successful. Following his presentation, he answered
questions, and also provided his cell phone number in case the Mayor or any Council
Member has questions that may arise. Mayor Eric Struemph thanked Mr. Rackers for his
efforts at the State Capitol on behalf of the City.
Transformation
Mayor Eric Struemph introduced Randy Allen from the Chamber of Commerce who gave
a presentation regarding the Transformation issue which the community has been working
on the past several months. At the conclusion of his presentation, he stated that the
Chamber has requested that the Council place the issue of a 1/2 Economic Development
sales tax on the February, 2012 ballot to allow the voters to vote on funding the projects
identified by the Chamber and numerous volunteers who worked on the issue.
